1792 SMALL BATCH
KENTUCKY STRAIGHT BOURBON
The 1792 Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is a higher- end bourbon from Barton, itself one of a number of brands owned by Sazerac. The name 1792 refers to the year Kentucky gained statehood, a nod to bourbon history by a company that’s only been in business since 1933.
1792 is made from a mash of corn, rye and malted barley and aged for eight years. While the use of corn in the bourbon’s recipe adds classic notes of buttered bread, biscuits and roasted nuts, the heavy use of rye in the bourbon’s mashbill yields a more complex and full-bodied whiskey.
Aged in new, American oak casks in Warehouse Z on the distillery’s estate in Bardstown, Kentucky enjoying the intense heat and humidity that are ideal for maturing bourbon.
Sweet honey, vanilla tones is balanced with orange and spice. A few minutes in the glass will open up the nose open up nicely. A distinct woodiness in the background.
Tannic and peppery. Heavy woody flavour profile. A hint of maple and a dry, tongue-coating mouthfeel.
Oak predominates on a long, drying, nearly hot finish. Some vanilla also peeks through but is soon swept aside.
